In the year 2018, there was a stir in the Detroit Death Metal scene. A yearning for more riffs, more blast beats, and more growls was met with chaotic orchestration. Nethergate was formed in the metro Detroit area that year and by the following year they were eager for a live debut, and their debut EP “Dimensional Purgatory” came out in August 2019.

Then in 2020, a worldwide pandemic hit after their first year of live shows, a total lockdown with no shows for anyone. However, like many other bands, the Covid-19 shutdown instilled a creative yearning during this time. With a year and a half of confusion, but determination in the driver's seat, they were back to playing out as a band by late 2021, and used the time wisely to craft their follow up EP “Necroasis”, which was released in May of 2022.

Having two EPs under their belt, it was time for something bigger, better, and by far more ballistic. This did not come without its challenges though; major life changes, technical setbacks, and a string of lineup changes until ultimately landing on the current and improved coalition of the group that exists today. In just under a year after solidifying the strongest and most consistent lineup to date, Nethergate was ready to push it further and declare themselves as a force in their respective scene and genre, culminating with the release of their 2026 full-length debut “Sanguivoria.”

Now more than ever, Nethergate has become a staple in Detroit's deep pool of talented extreme metal artists, and now are looking to brand their mark of the chaos tinged precision that is their sound onto the psyche of both loyal fans and the uninitiated alike, melding influences from all over and honing it into a fine tuned weapon ready to be shown to a venue near you.
